It’s easy if you have Windows Media Player. I’ll use Windows Media player 12 on Windows 7.
First go to Control Panel then to Sharing Center then to Media streaming options click on the combo-box saying “Local network”, and change it to “All Networks”
Now you see a “Unknown Device”. That’s your PS3 system.
To be completely sure it is your PlayStation 3 system, double left click on it, and check the “MAC address”. Now you see it on your computer, now go to your PS3 settings tab, then System-Settings, then the 2nd from down called: System-Information, click it & you will see, the System Software, IP address, MAC address,& Space on the HDD
Then you can double check, and see if the MAC address matches, if it does, then you can go to the next step. If it doesn’t, then your PS3 system is probably not on the same network. (If you have the internet connection going from the same router to your PS3 & to your Computer, then it should work, If it is the PS3 system, be sure the command box to the right says: “Allowed”!
Now you need to go to your Windows Media player. Click on “Stream”. (If you have the old version of WMP (WMP 11) then you need to click: “Library”)
Then choose: “Automatically allow devices to play my media” Now that that’s done, and you have something in your library, you can play your stuff on the PS3.
(Remember to play music, be in the Music tab & to show pictures in the Picture tab & to play videos/movies be in the Videos tab)Now the second part of the tutorial: How to select where my media files should come from.
Like, if you want all your music to come from “C:\Program Files\My music”
and not from “C:\Users\*Your Username*\My Music” and you would like to know how, but you don’t, then follow this part of the tutorial!Open Windows Media Player Click on Organize
Click on Manage libraries
Click on “Music”, “Videos”, “Pictures” or “Recorded TV”, depending on what you want to choose. Then you can remove the old one by clicking on it, and clicking Remove & you can add another one by clicking on “Add”, or you can keep them both by just adding the new one.
